Shazylist was built with one golden rule: your data belongs to you. Unlike many modern applications, Shazylist has no cloud database, requires no account creation, and uses no advertising trackers.
The application works by directly reading the local Shazam SQLite database on your macOS. All analysis, filtering, and session organization operations are performed exclusively on your machine. No information regarding your listening history, favorite artists, or habits is transmitted to our servers or third parties.
The 30-second audio previews offered in the interface are served via the public iTunes/Apple Music API. When you click on a cover, a request is sent from your Mac to Apple's servers to retrieve the corresponding audio stream. This connection uses your own internet connection and is subject to Apple Inc.'s privacy policies.
To function, Shazylist requires "Full Disk Access" authorization. This permission is only necessary to allow the application to read the protected Shazam database file (Apple system). Shazylist does not access any other personal files on your hard drive.
Shazylist is an independent, open-source project and is in no way affiliated with, endorsed by, or linked to Shazam Entertainment Ltd or Apple Inc.. The names Shazam and Apple Music are registered trademarks of their respective owners.
